Us and a group of friends went for about a 35 mile ride in the desert to the east of hwy 95. It was a bit cool to start off but warmed up as the day went on, old mines, cabins, petroglyphs and great views plus a nice sunset.

Lots of talk that rain is on its way the next couple days, flash flood warnings, ect. Getting rain in the desert is big news as it don’t happen very often. Taco tuesday, here comes the sun.

Still hanging out in Quartzsite AZ, still around 80 daytime and 50’s at nite. Tracey hung out for a few days then headed to Texas last week. Went and checked out “Buck Connors” western days here in town, Buck Connors was an old western actor from the 1800’s that lived in Quartzsite, nice little event, car show, ect. Made a run up to Parker yesterday for supplies, Suzy made a great stussel cake (shes getting used to this oven). Life is good, another great sunset.

And a moonrise

We decided to hang out around Quartzsite for most of the winter till the weather shapes up before heading to our next destination so we moved to the long term BLM area south of town, found a great spot to set up, check it out.

On the long term area (ltva) you pay $180 for up to 7 months. You get water, sewer dump, trash. So it makes it more convenent.
Headed down to Quartzsite today. Got here in time to set up, get a tank of water, eat a nice chicken salad and see the sun set…

Quartsite is a huge gathering place for snowbirds. We got a great spot at the far end of HiJolly BLM, we try to get as far away from everyone because of our 4 dogs. Just before we left Havasu we ran into some friends i met last two winters down here, they are from Colorado, just happened to park near us during the evening on there way to Quartzsite, small world. Tempature about 80 day 60 nite.

Our new homestead for a bit, couple miles north of Quartzsite. It’s on BLM land, Hi Jolly camping area.

A bit of history, Hi Jolly was hired by the US army in the mid 1800’s to manage camels as an experiment in the desert.

This area was also used as a huge military training area during WW2 run by General Patton. You can still see where there camps where set up throughout the desert and old tank trails.
Wow, November already. Still hanging out in Havasu for at least one more day anyway. Temps are heading back up around 80 next week, thank god, those 60s and 70s are starting to feel cold…Lol. A enthusiastic group built replicas of light houses from around the world and placed them around the lake, kinda cool.

Suzy and the kids on there morning “poop walk”

With another good nites rest, breakfast and walk the dogs we head down the road for our 3rd day offically on the road as gypsies. Forgot to mention that we have the truck and toy hauler with Suzy following in her car. It’s about a 5 hour drive to Kingman, just have to get through Las Vegas. Look forward to seeing our friends and setteling for several days in one spot. Early afternoon we make it to Kingman and hook up with our friends Dave, Diana and her family who are camped just east of town in a big open area. We plan to stay here for a week at least and get used to our new lifestyle.
After a good nites sleep, breakfast and a nice shower were off, next over nite stop is Beatty NV. Beatty is a cool little town, a tourist destination as its a gateway to Death Valley. Theres a nice little spot about a mile south of town with a small pond to park the rig for the nite. The plan was to get down to Kingman AZ asap and set up for at least a week and organize the trailer, with all the packing up from our place in Oregon and then helping Sis get packed as well stuff just got thrown in and the trailer (now our home) was a mess. So just one nite in Beatty then it will be an easy run to Kingman. Also in Kingman is our old friends Dave & Diana who live in there RV full time and plan to hook up with them.
Made it to Lake Havasu early afternoon with plenty of setup time. There is a BLM site just south of town, a big old gravel pit of sorts. Mayby a dozen other folks camped there but plenty of room for privacy and the dogs to run. We are about a couple miles out of town but 6 or so miles to nearest store, Havasu is a long town running north/south on hwy 95 with lots of stop lights. We are at the south end and Walmart is at the north end (mayby 15 miles) but plenty of anything you need in between.

Last day of Oct. Windy and cold (cold for this part of the county) last couple days, stayed inside for the most part.

Kinda hard to find a place to set, they like the chairs as much as we do.
Several days ago some folks pulled up 50 yards or so from us and set up a tent, as it turns out they droped off this homeless lady, she must be high class homeless as she has a wheelchair insted of a shopping cart to haul her stuff around in. With the 30-40 mph winds last couple days her tent diden’t fare to well. She stuggled in the wind with it then gave up and came ask for help. I went over knowing it was a waste of time in this wind, what a mess, the tent poles snaped, some duck taped together, told her your going to have to tough it out in a flat tent till this wind quits, sad deal. No wind this morning, looks like a nice day.
After getting set up outside of Kingman its time to empty out the trailer and get organized, man i thought we got rid of most of this crap, seems a bunch of it stowed away and came with us. Anyway after a bit of re-organizing our new home is feeling livable and kinda know where stuff is..lol. After a few days in one place and all the packing behind us it dawned on us that we are not just on a camping trip but this is our home now, well at least were not homeless 😊. The kids (dogs) are getting used to the new norm a bit as well. Our friends we met up with where already setup and been camping here for a couple weeks, they thought it was state or BLM land, well the owner showed up and it turned out to be private, he owned 1000 acres and we where camped in the middle of it 🙂. He was a nice guy and gave Dave his card and said if anyone gives you trouble call me, lucked out. We spent a week in Kingman before heading to Havasu for our next week or so stay.
